Repeat Prescriptions

Prescriptions ordered for collection will be generated at the Portland site, please collect from there.

From 1st March 2018, we will no longer take repeat prescriptions orders over the phone

There are many options available to order your repeat prescriptions

• You can order your repeat prescription directly through this site. Click on the link above and you will be taken to our online system. (registration required - please enquire)

• Select option '1' when telephoning the surgery to use the automated system. (registration required - please enquire)

• Tick the appropriate medication on your prescription slip and hand it in (or post) to the practice

Once ordered there are several options to get your prescription

• You can collect your prescription in person
• We can post your prescription to you if you supply a stamped addressed envelope
• The local pharmacies provide a service where your prescriptions are ready to collect direct from them in 48 hours

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Please allow two full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

NHS charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

• Prescription (per item): £9.00
• 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £104.00
• 3-month PPC: £29.10

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

From Thursday 5th February 2015 we will be 'live' on the Electronic Prescription Service. This service gives you the option to 'nominate' the pharmacy where you get your repeat medication from. You request your repeat in the usual way and the pharmacy receive your prescription direct from us electronically. This could save you a trip to the surgery just to collect a prescription form- particularly if you have regular prescriptions and especially at the moment with all the roadworks!!

You can 'nominate' your pharmacy on a form in your usual pharmacy, on a form from  Reception or download a form from:
